Agronomy

Local conditions may vary, so always consult your local agronomist and adapt to local conditions.

Seed rate

  • September: 200-250 seeds/m2
  • Mid October onwards: 275-300 seeds/m2

Core fungicide programme

  • T0 - Bravo 1.0lt/ha (only in high risk Septoria situations) +/- triazole if increased rust risk
  • T1 - Cherokee 1.25 – 1.5lt/ha. Apply Unix at 0.5kg/ha if high risk of eyespot
  • T2 - Amistar Opti 1.25lt/ha + triazole (half to three quarter rate)
  • T3 - Amistar 0.5lt/ha + triazole (quarter to half rate)

Nitrogen application

  • High yields means extra Nitrogen may be required to ensure breadmaking specifications are met
  • In the region of 240-250 kilograms N/ha total required
  • 40 kilograms N/ha at flag leaf fully emerged will increase the grain protein level

PGRs

  • Limerick is a very stiff strawed variety
  • As an insurance measure apply Chlormequat at 1.5lt/ha at GS30-31
  • In higher risk situations, adding Moddus will increase root structure and aid plant shortening, apply Chlormequat 1.25lt/ha + Moddus 0.1lt/ha at GS30-31
  • In low plant populations, Moddus will help root stimulation and promote tiller numbers

Grain quality

  • When grown for quality, Limerick meets all commercial standards required for milling wheat
  • A balanced baking performance, whiteness of flour and good loaf volume have been noticed by commercial millers
