Agronomy advice

Local conditions may vary, so always consult your local agronomist and adapt to local conditions.

Seed rate

Gallant seed rate

Core fungicide programme

  • T0 - Bravo 1.0lt/ha +/- Triazole if increased rust risk
  • T1 - Cherokee 1.25-1.5lt/ha + Unix at 0.5kg/ha
  • T2 - Amistar Opti 1.25lt/ha + Triazole (three quarter rate)
  • T3 - Amistar 0.5lt/ha + Triazole (quarter to half rate)

Nitrogen application

  • High yields means extra Nitrogen may be required to ensure breadmaking specifications are met
  • In the region of 180-220kg N/ha total required
  • 40-60 kilograms N/ha at flag leaf fully emerged will increase the grain protein level

PGRs

  • Gallant is a very stiff strawed variety
  • As an insurance measure apply Chlormequat at 1.5lt/ha at GS30
  • In higher risk situations, adding Moddus will increase root structure and aid plant shortening, apply Chlormequat at 1.25lt/ha + Moddus 0.2lt/ha at T1
  • In low plant populations, Moddus will help root stimulation and promote tiller numbers
